In this lecture, Dr Rachel Dickinson briefly introduces John Ruskin, then traces ways in which he offers textiles as a path to weaving a happier and healthier society, before touching on a few examples of how his ideas have inspired textile practitioners. Dr Rachel Dickinson is a Reader in Interdisciplinary Studies/English at Manchester Metropolitan University and Master of The Guild of St George, an educational charity established by Victorian polymath John Ruskin.
